Designing a Roadmap
Kickoff Session
We’ll start with a 1.5-hour discovery kickoff meeting so that you can orient us on your business by sharing your goals, strategies, sales pitch and product/service offerings.
Influencer Mapping
Many founders and senior leaders have high-potential networks but don’t always know how to use them properly to generate leads. That’s why we’ll lead you through a tagging exercise to help you re-discover and prioritize all the contacts you already know. We’ll also identify an entire ecosystem of new contacts for you. The resulting Influencer Map that we draw up and visualize for you will become a critical part of our strategic outreach plan.
Listening Tour
To help us understand you, we’ll ask you to invite us to as many relevant key meetings/conversations/pitches as you can (or send recordings) during the first few months.
Your Go-to-Market Plan
In this phase, we’ll present a recommended Go-to-Market game plan to drive your growth.
It will outline your custom ecosystem map of key influencers, referral partners and associations we should target to help accelerate your growth.
You’ll also get our recommendations on your marketing test plan, including what mix of events, email outreach, thought leadership efforts and more we should test.
You’ll also get an action plan for the next 90 days on what strategies we recommend testing first.
Ongoing Support (Optional)
Once you’ve received your strategy and influencer map, you can choose to conclude the engagement - or continue to engage me to guide your outreach efforts.
Ongoing support is customized to your needs, but generally includes generous doses of perspective and advice related to your overall growth strategy, including guidance on what’s worked and what hasn’t for other companies, ways to amplify and expand your client acquisition approach, marketing and visibility strategies and programs, tools and strategies to help you develop your new business processes and more. It can be helpful if we have a short weekly check in to align on priorities.
Should you wish it, this ongoing monthly engagement is available in small, medium, or large increments. Together, we can discuss how to best focus these hours so that I deliver value to you.

Outreach Test Runs
To activate your plan, I might start by organizing a few “test-run” meetings or calls with influencers or customers on your target plan. We’ll sit in (or dial in), appearing to be part of your team. We’ll think of these early meetings as learning exercises to test your product, market and messaging fit.
To support the strategies, we’ll use your current selling materials or create new ones that speak to the influencer or customer we’re targeting.
Before the test meetings, you’ll get a backgrounder and a strategic messaging architecture that will help your conversations succeed. After the meetings, you’ll get feedback on how you might restructure your selling messaging and stories so they resonate even more.
This initial part of the support phase will focus on enabling you to try out the strategy and get better at selling the value of your product, answering tough questions and so on.

We’ll build on our nine years heading up business development for a growing firm, three years experience teaching at Columbia University and over ten years of work in strategic communications and presentation coaching to deliver workshops such as Pitch to Win or Case Study to Case Story to your team. These full-day or half-day workshops will help your team polish their persuasive presentation skills and selling stories.
